Lovere is the only town on Lake Iseo that is listed among Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages: a pedestrian lakeside promenade, medieval alleys, the Tadini Academy overlooking the water, and the harbor from which boats depart. Frequently Asked Questions About Lovere and Lake Iseo
In Lovere, on the Bergamo side of Lake Iseo, at Via Torricella 19A: a quiet residential area above the historic center, about a 45-minute drive from Bergamo and its airport.
No: Luer Prince is an entire vacation rental with a fully equipped kitchen, not a B&B. Upon arrival, you’ll find a welcome bottle and basic supplies in the kitchen.
By bus from Bergamo, by train to the Pisogne station (a 10-minute drive from Lovere), or by boat from other towns around the lake. It’s about a 16-minute walk from the dock to the house.
From April to September for the lake and water activities; August is the most popular month. But Lovere is worth visiting all year round: in the fall, there’s CortoLovere and the lake’s fall colors, and in the winter, the village is all lit up.
Yes: there are beaches and swimming areas on the lake. The best-known one in the area is Baia del Bogn, in Riva di Solto, a 15-minute drive from the house.
You can see the city center in half a day, but for the lakeside promenade, the Accademia Tadini, a boat tour, and Baia del Bogn, you’ll need at least two or three days.
Lovere is the only town on the lake included in the “Most Beautiful Villages of Italy” list: it features a pedestrian lakeside promenade, a medieval town center, and the Accademia Tadini, which overlooks the water. On the other side of the lake, Monte Isola, Iseo, and Sarnico are also worth a visit.
The best-known beaches on the Bergamo side are Baia del Bogn in Riva di Solto—a 15-minute drive from home—and the beaches at Castro and Predore. Monte Isola is accessible by boat, and there are other swimming areas there as well.
Lake Lovere is Lake Iseo, also known as Sebino: the fourth-largest lake in Lombardy by surface area. Lovere is located at the northern tip of the Bergamo shore, where the lake is narrowest and the mountains drop sheer into the water.
On the Bergamo side: Castro, Riva di Solto, Solto Collina, and Costa Volpino. On the other side, accessible by boat or car: Pisogne, Marone, Sale Marasino, Sulzano, Iseo, and Monte Isola.
The cuisine is typical of Bergamo and the lake region: casoncelli, polenta taragna, and lake fish—from dried sardines from Monte Isola to whitefish. There’s a fully equipped kitchen in the house, but the restaurants in the city center are just a few minutes away.
